North Shore Community Resources Society

Founded in 1976, NSCR’s mandate is to promote a healthy, strong and connected community by serving residents and organizations on the North Shore which comprises the District of North Vancouver, City of North Vancouver, District of West Vancouver, Bowen Island and Lions Bay. NSCR pursues its mandate by providing a broad spectrum of resources and services to residents of North Shore municipalities with programming for families and children, seniors, information and referral, volunteer connections, legal information and advocacy, and more.

Child and Parent Resources:  NSCR programs for families and children focus on child care and parent information including the Child Care Resource and Referral program, Community Action Program for Children, Connect for Kids community planning tables and the mobile Wheels program. We also produce the Children and Family Directory.

Seniors:  NSCR supports seniors through our Caregiver Support program, Seniors One Stop (which produces the Seniors’ Directory) and our Better at Home program which provides a range of services for seniors to remain in their own homes.

Information North Shore is a service that is a clearinghouse for information about North Shore services and resources. We coordinate the Interagency Network, an inclusive network of all North Shore service agencies that serves to share information and coordinate programming. We provide information and advocacy for affordable housing through the Community Housing Action Committee.

Volunteer North Shore connects individuals seeking volunteer opportunities with those organizations that need volunteers. We provide the website database and over 100 agencies use our database to post available volunteer opportunities. 

We also produce the Youth Volunteering - Volunteer (nscr.ca).

Legal Services:  NSCR Legal Advocates assist low income individuals with legal issues that affect their basic well-being such as employment, benefits and housing. The program also provides more general information about family law and other legal issues and provides public legal education workshops.
