Kateslem After School Program in Coquitlam, provides vulnerable youth with a positive, consistent, supportive and safe after school environment.
Kateslem aims to empower youth through experiences and skill development.
The individual’s abilities and needs, in relation to their family, peers, school and community, are valued and respected.
The low youth to staff ratio facilitates trust and understanding between youth and program staff.
Kateslem operates out of Banting, Citadel, Como Lake, and Hillcrest Middle Schools, in Coquitlam, BC. (Program capacity is 20 students per school)

Kateslem After School Program operates out of Banting, Citadel, Como Lake, Hillcrest & Summit Middle Schools, in Coquitlam, BC.
The program starts the first day of School in September, and runs through the last day of School in June.
Kateslem operates Monday to Friday, from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm, during the school terms, with snacks provided each day.
The Kateslem room is set up in a club like manner, with couches and tables for homework use.
Youth also access the gym, classrooms, home economics room, art room and/or outdoor facilities to accommodate planned activities throughout the year.
A broad range of activities are offered, including:
- Homework assistance
- Literacy skills
- Life skills
- Health, nutrition and hygiene skills
- Community service and leadership
- Recreational activities
- Creative activities
- Friendship and conflict resolution
