Who We Are
The Kinbrace community welcomes refugee claimants with housing, education, and support. Launched in 1998 as BC's first dedicated housing and support provider for refugee claimants, our ongoing dream for each refugee claimant is a world of welcome, a community of belonging, and a life of opportunity. We are a values-driven community guided by practices of welcome, trust, mutual transformation, celebration, and prayer.
Kinbrace started in east Vancouver in the hearts and imaginations of the Grandview Church community. Rooted in the Christian tradition, we embrace and work alongside all and any who share in the universal and ancient summons to welcome the stranger.
What We Do
Kinbrace grows transformative communities where refugee claimants and Canadians flourish together, the result of these six programs:
Housing - increasing housing security, from homeless to permanent housing.
Community - cultivating belonging, from displacement to welcoming others.
Wellness - pursuing wellbeing, from surviving to engaging opportunities and hopes.
Refugee Protection - securing immigration status, from refugee claimant to Canadian citizen.
Employment - gaining financial stability, from unemployment to meaningful work.
Beyond Refuge - growing identity, from outsider to friend.
