Who We Are

Kelowna Stands With Ukraine (KSWU), is a registered not-for-profit organization that exits to provide protection equipment to military personnel fighting in the war against Russia; provides humanitarian aid to Soldiers and Civilians in Ukraine; and in Canada, supports Temporarily Displaced Ukrainians.

Our volunteers and hosts are located throughout the Okanagan and beyond Kelowna, in communities such as Vernon, Armstrong, Peachland and Enderby.

KSWU was established in February 2022 by Denys Storozhuk Denys was born in Kyiv, Ukraine, it was his home city for 25 years. In April 2023 Denys received the Anita Tozer Memorial Award, which recognizes an individual or group for their extraordinary and positive contribution to the quality of life in Kelowna.
Storozhuk has been the face of efforts in the Central Okanagan to support the people of Ukraine ever since the Russian offensive began in February 2022. He has helped bring hundreds of displaced Ukrainians to the Kelowna area, recruiting dozens of volunteers to offer them food, shelter, jobs and other support.

What We Do

KSWU helps Temporarily Displaced Ukrainians find temporary housing and offers support through services provided by KSWU—by helping families to get connected in community and social interactions, offering English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, employment resources, and mentorship and other special programs, services and learning resources.

Please note - we are BC not-for-profit organization, not a registered CRA charity. We are working towards obtaining this status in the next year. As such we could not issue tax receipts.
