Who We Are

LLCS has a unique approach to community development led by a diverse board of directors, with a mandate of 50% St’at’imc representation. LLCS believes in the principle that ‘community development MUST be community-led.’ The Community Connect Innovation HUB (the HUB) is a prime example of this approach. The HUB project was formed from community voices, to build local capacity for addressing needs with a collaborative approach. Current services engage with over a dozen partner organizations to strengthen participation and ensure all groups are included. This approach bolsters sustainable economic growth, by empowering people to turn their ideas into tangible actions.

LLCS is a leading example of inclusion in the community, and acts directly on the 'nothing about us without us' principle. LLCS reaches a diverse population of 4231 across approx. 7210 sq. km, including Lillooet, 6 northern St’at’imc Nation Indigenous communities, 13 rural and remote communities within the northern Squamish-Lillooet Regional District.

What We Do

The purpose of the Lillooet Learning Communities Society (LLCS) Sát'mec Ull'usmíntwal' Szwátet.scal, is to create a learning community by building a resilient, enduring, and inclusive community network that respects and promotes learning in all forms for the benefit of all learners of all ages. LLCS facilitates partnerships and cooperation among Lillooet communities in support of lifelong learning of individuals and community groups, and seeks to contribute to public safety through the development of restorative practices. Informed by St’at’imc values and community-driven action, LLCS strives to improve quality of life through social inclusion and reduce poverty through sustainable economic growth.

What do we do to achieve this?

1) Community Connect Innovation HUB: Space rental, shared services, storefront, direct service contracts, and more

2) Community Conversations and Interventions: Dialogues, events, and interventions around social and restorative justice, reconciliation and other critical topics

3) Mentorship, Training, Programming and Project Incubation: Coordination and/or hosting of programs related to CED, entrepreneurship, youth employment, food security, etc. and incubation and administration for value aligned community initiatives.
