RISE Alberni

RISE Alberni is a nonprofit in Port Alberni, BC that runs K-12 and post-secondary tutoring, free English classes, citizenship test help, and settlement support for students, newcomers, and community members across the Alberni Valley. We believe that a strong community is built on connection, understanding, and mutual support. Our programs create pathways for newcomers to develop language skills, navigate local systems, build employment readiness, and form meaningful connections with their neighbours. As a grassroots organization, we listen to the people we serve and adapt our work to real community needs, from one-on-one tutoring and settlement navigation to anti-racism initiatives.

RISE Alberni empowers students, newcomers, and community members through language learning, skills development, settlement support, and programs that build lasting community connection. We offer fee-based K through 12 and post-secondary tutoring, free English language classes and tutoring, settlement and community support, and employment support.
