BIO/BACKGROUND

Lindsay Baker is a CVA-certified volunteer engagement professional with 20+ years of experience in a variety of settings including universities, volunteer centres, museums, aquariums, and special events. Currently she is Senior Manager, Volunteer Resources at the BC SPCA, the largest animal welfare organization in North America. Lindsay is also an instructor with Conestoga College's Volunteer Management Certificate Program, and serves on the board the Volunteer Management Professionals of Canada (VMPC).

Previously, she was the Manager of Volunteer Services at the Vancouver Aquarium, and the Marine Mammal Rescue Centre.  In those role she led a team of 3 staff and 1,400 volunteers annually. She was the winner of the 2017 Impact Award for Exemplary Leadership in Volunteer Management by AVRBC. 

Prior to that she worked at Volunteer Richmond (now Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives) coordinating volunteer management training, running the volunteer centre, and coordinating 1,300 volunteers for 2010 Olympic events for the City of Richmond.

Deb Young is an award winning volunteer engagement specialist with over 25 years experience in volunteer administration and program design. Currently she is the Coordinator for the Volunteer Management Certificate Program at Conestoga College Institute of Technology in Ontario. Her previous experiences including work on the Board of Directors for the Council of Certification in Volunteer Administration, and Coordinator of Volunteer Services for 20 years for the Region of Waterloo.
