Reasons Why You Need a Volunteer Orientation in Place

  1. Increased ConfidenceWhen any volunteer begins at an organization there will be some uneasiness, you can help reduce this by having a strong orientation process as it will give the new volunteer more confidence about their role. They can also learn more about the organization at this point which may increase their confidence and further motivate them going forward.
  2. Decrease Risk - Making sure that your volunteers know the procedures and guidelines right away will help reduce any potential problems. This can also serve to reduce any misunderstandings or misconceptions that the volunteer might have.
  3. Stronger Public Image - A better-informed volunteer is one that will represent your organization better. Making sure that your volunteers are equipped with knowledge about your cause and operation will serve to increase public perception and also serve to further market your cause.
  4. Improve Volunteer Retention - Orientation is a great place to impart enthusiasm about your organization and cause to your volunteer. This will motivate them and make them more likely to stay and evolve with your organization.
