Volunteer: Make a difference in a senior's life! Dog Walkers, Dog Care Service, & Foster volunteers required for seniors & their dogs
ElderDog Canada helps to maintain relationships between older people and their dogs for as long as possible but can only do this with assistance. We need your help.
Volunteers involved in dog care support help us "keep love in the home" by assisting older adults with free basic dog care so that they can stay together as long as possible. We are currently looking for volunteers in the following areas: Vancouver; North & West Vancouver; Richmond-Delta; Surrey-Langley-White Rock; Tri-Cities; Burnaby-New Westminster Volunteer opportunities with ElderDog include regular weekly dog walking of up to an hour in duration driving a dog to a vet or groomer appointment helping out with basic grooming, such as brushing, or bathing delivering donated dog food fosters who help care for dogs on a temporary basis while their senior companions are unable to provide basic care at home for them due to short-term incapacity or a hospital stay. These activities may seem simple to volunteers, but they can make a world of difference to someone who needs help in any of these areas. Very often, it can mean the difference between someone being able to keep or give up their beloved companion. Volunteers providing regular services such as walking are asked to commit to at least one hour a week, every week, at generally the same time. Occasional volunteer activities such as driving, assistance with grooming, and delivering dog food usually involve less frequent time commitments. Fostering may range from a few days to a few weeks or months, depending on the need. *Please note that volunteers must be 18 years or older, and provide a vulnerable sector criminal record check.
