Nanaimo Family Life Association is looking for compassionate, community-minded volunteers to support seniors in the Nanaimo area. Our programs help older adults stay active, connected, and independent. Whether it’s offering friendly companionship, helping someone get to a medical appointment, supporting our day programs, or assisting seniors in navigating housing options, you’ll be making a real impact in someone’s life—on a schedule that works for you.

Our senior support programs include:

TAPS (Therapeutic Activation Program for Seniors): Assist with day program activities like making meals, games, and chair yoga. SHINE (Senior Housing Information and Navigational Ease): Help seniors access safe and appropriate housing. Transportation Services: Drive seniors to essential appointments. Friendly Visiting: Spend time with a senior once a week for companionship and conversation.

What you will be helping with:

Supporting seniors with simple but meaningful tasks and activities. Providing social interaction and reducing isolation. Enabling seniors to remain independent and connected to their community.

Other Helpful Information:

We offer very flexible scheduling—volunteer when it works best for you. Great for anyone with free time during the day and a desire to give back. Training and ongoing support provided by our Volunteer Coordinator. Mileage reimbursement available for approved travel.Criminal Record Check is required. We will provide a link to do it online for free, or you can go to the police station to acquire one as well.
