We’ve been friendship-building and memory-making in British Columbia since 1985, and work with nearly 500 participants each summer through our kids, family, and youth camps. Our programs offer a variety of volunteer opportunities including Arts and Crafts, Dining Hall, Host and Skip (Camp Counsellor) roles! If you’re passionate about supporting vulnerable communities, comfortable working with kids, and enjoy the outdoors, we’d love to hear from you! Once per month, volunteers will: - Pick up prepared meals at 11:30am from a designated kitchen for all of the seniors & yourself. - Bring the meals to the senior’s complex. - Assist to set up tables and chairs as needed, and serve the residents their meals. - Eat the meal together over a one-hour social time with the seniors & facilitate conversations - Provide meal options for the following month and note participant’s choices - Return the insulated bag and garbage These activities will take place monthly on either a Wednesday or a Friday. Who We Are:Second Harvest is Canada’s largest food rescue organization and expert in perishable food recovery. We rescue surplus, unsold food from across the supply chain and redistribute it to not-for-profits across the country to feed communities. We work with athletes from 3 to 35 years of age but primarily focus on youth athletic development. This role provides hands-on support with food share, donations, activities, and the upkeep of our space, ensuring the center remains safe, warm, and inviting. By assisting both staff and participants, you will play a key part in building the sense of community, care, and belonging that is central to our mission. Direct participants to the appropriate staff member. Assist with setting up and putting away Food Share - Food bank donations that are brought to the center for participants on Monday and Wednesday mornings. Maintain cleanliness of the center, including lawn/garden/walkway maintenance. Receive, organize and store incoming donations. Maintain cleanliness of donation room. Set up and put away supplies for activities and/or events. Assist in facilitation of workshops and/or events. Answer the phone and assist with administrative tasks.No previous experience is required — just a willingness to help and a heart for community! Experience in customer service, hospitality, or community programs is an asset, but not necessary. Full training and ongoing support are provided to ensure you feel confident in your role.
