Volunteer: Thrift Store Supporter

What You’ll Be Doing:

As a volunteer, you'll support day-to-day operations and help create a positive, respectful experience for everyone in our store.

Tasks include:

Greet customers with kindness and offer assistance

Providing positive, respectful interactions with customers, staff, and fellow volunteers

Receiving, sorting, and inspecting donations

Merchandising, tagging, and pricing items

Organizing and hanging clothing

Promoting the store and encouraging donations

???? Optional: Interested in cashiering? We offer cashier training for volunteers who are comfortable with processing payments. Only trained volunteers will be assigned to the till.


Shifts Available:

Our standard shifts are between 3-4 hours.

We ask volunteers to commit to at least one shift per week.

Sundays: 10:30 am – 2:30. pm | 2:00pm – 6:30 pm

Mondays: 1:00. pm – 5:00pm | 4:30. pm – 7:30pm

Tuesdays: 9:30. am – 1:00pm | 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Thursdays: 9:30am – 1:00pmFridays: 9:30am – 1:00pm | 4:30pm – 7:30pm

Saturdays: 2:00pm – 6:30 pm

Minimum of 6 months or 100 total volunteer hours

Attend a 4-hour in-person training session to learn the basics of the role and confirm mutual fit

Acceptance & Scheduling: Once training is complete, we’ll confirm your acceptance and weekly volunteer shift

Accessibility & Inclusion Notes:

Ground-level storefront (no stairs)

Medium lighting and background music

Typical lifting: up to 5kg; maximum occasionally up to 20kg

The store is fairly busy, especially on Sundays and Wednesdays

IMay not be suitable for those with dust allergies

Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? Do you have a vehicle (SUV or larger) and a valid driver’s license? Join our team as a Thrift Store Transport Volunteer at Thrift & Fund by Low Entropy Foundation!

Role Overview:

As a Transport Volunteer, you will play a key role in helping our thrift store operate efficiently by transporting unsellable items to a designated location 15-20 minutes away. Your support ensures that our store remains organized and that all items are redirected responsibly.

Responsibilities:

Arrive at the store on a weekly basis: either Friday mornings or Saturday mornings.

Check-in with staff to confirm which items need transport.

Load items into your vehicle from the back door of the store.

Drive items to the designated location and unload them as needed.

Requirements:

Valid driver’s license

Access to a vehicle (SUV or larger) for transporting items

Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy items

Punctual and reliable
