Volunteer: Regional Association of Family Councils Volunteer

Do you have a few hours a week  to help our independent Regional Associations of Family Councils with some volunteer duties? eg. train to assist in establishing both family councils and resident councils in long-term care homes within the region of BC where you live.  We have 5 member independent regional associations, one operating in each health authority of BC. Please visit our website https://iltccabc.ca/ to learn about the important work we do.  Visit our volunteer recruitment page  https://iltccabc.ca/become-a-volunteer/  . We would love to hear from you and discuss how you might assist us in this important work.  On Nov 3, 2022 the Ministry of Health announced new regulations regarding the operations of independent (self-led, self-determining and democratic) resident and/or family councils in long-term care homes throughout BC.  https://news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2022HLTH0214-001642 "Long-term care homes are people's homes and  its important that resident and family members have a place to share concerns and ideas when it come to decisions about how the homes are operating said Adrian Dix, Minister of Health. The province is strengthening support and oversight of resident and family councils, and encouraging long-term care homes currently without a council to establish one to ensure greater voices for residents and their families in decisions that affect them and their loved ones personally".
