Volunteer: 2026 Summit on Aging – Workshop Note Takers

The Workshop Note Taker Volunteer plays an important role in supporting the 2026 Summit on Aging by attending assigned workshops/concurrent sessions and capturing key discussion points, insights, resources, and action items using a provided digital note-taking template. Notes collected during the summit help document important learnings and contribute to knowledge sharing following the event.

We are looking for volunteers who are organized, detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable using a laptop for note-taking. Volunteers should have strong listening skills, be able to summarize information accurately, and be punctual in moving between assigned sessions. This role is recommended for students in post-secondary. 

Note: Volunteers must bring their own laptop for note-taking, as all notes will be completed electronically using a digital template provided by United Way BC. Volunteers are responsible for keeping their laptop and personal belongings with them throughout their shift. While a volunteer room will be available, individuals will be coming and going throughout the day and United Way BC is not responsible for lost, stolen, or unattended items.

About the 2026 Summit on Aging

The United Way BC Summit on Aging is an event focused on addressing the needs and challenges of older adults in British Columbia. The summit brings together community leaders, service providers, and stakeholders to discuss and develop strategies for supporting healthy aging. 

The upcoming summit is scheduled to take place October 27th and 28th, 2026at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel – 7551 Westminster Hwy., Richmond, BC 
 
The summit includes workshops, keynote addresses, and panel discussions on various topics such as social prescribing, ageism, emergency preparedness, and caregiver support. It’s a great opportunity for networking and learning about innovative approaches to enhancing the quality of life for seniors. 

What you will be doing:

Attend assigned concurrent sessions and workshops. 

Take detailed notes using a provided digital note-taking template. 

Capture key themes, discussion points, resources, and recommendations shared during sessions. 


If thSubmit completed notes as instructed by Summit organizers. 

*Note: This volunteer position is recommended for post-secondary students*

Time Commitment & Conference Participation:

Volunteers are welcome to attend the sessions they are assigned to support and join the provided meal before their shift; however, this volunteer role does not include full Summit registration or access to all conference sessions. We will do our best to accommodate any requests to attend specific sessions.

Meals and snacks are provided during shift. 

Volunteer must attend online orientation session on October at 22pm at 12pm - 1pm OR October 22pm 5pm - 6pm (Zoom link to be sent by email closer to the date).

Other Helpful Information: 

Volunteers will have a screening phone call before their shift is confirmed.

This role takes place on-site and indoors during the conference. 

Volunteers must bring their own laptop and charger. A digital template will be provided for all note-taking.

Parking available on-site, more info to be provided. 

Volunteer T-Shirt provided. 

Volunteers will have a secure place to store belongings, but it is suggested to leave valuables at home. A volunteer room will be available; however, volunteers are expected to keep their laptop and valuables with them throughout the day. The Conference Support Volunteer will be part of a volunteer team to support the Summit of Aging in a wide range of tasks and to create a great experience for attendees. We are looking for volunteers who have great interpersonal skills, are friendly, organized, and punctual. Please see below for more details on tasks
