Volunteer: Songbook Update Volunteer (Japanese Required)

Description
Join our team at Tonari Gumi – Japanese Community Volunteers Association and support our senior programs behind the scenes! We are looking for volunteers to help update and organize our songbooks used in music activities.

Our current songbooks include many songs but need to be cleaned up, reorganized, and updated for easier use.

Volunteers in this role will:

Review and organize existing songbook content
Search for song lyrics and information as needed
Edit and format documents using a computer
Help create clear, user-friendly songbooks for programs

We are looking for volunteers who:

Are comfortable using a computer (e.g., Word, Google Docs)
Have basic research skills (searching for songs online)
Can read and write Japanese (required)
Are detail-oriented and organized

Volunteer: Meals on Wheels Delivery Volunteer

Volunteer Drivers Are Needed to pick up and deliver hot meals to senior clients living in their own home and/or facility, for reasons of age and mobility issues are unable to prepare meals for themselves.  Tonari Gumi - Japanese Community Volunteers Association prepares Bento-style Japanese lunch and deliver on Tuesdays, 50 times a year.  This service not only deliver meals to valuable seniors, also provides social connections and assistance if needed.

We are looking for volunteers to help deliver meals in Vancouver, West/North Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, New Westminster and Coquitlam area.

Description

Pick up meals from our office in Vancouver at 10:30 am to deliver Vancouver, North/West Vancouver, and Richmond.  Meet up at the parking lot in Burnaby at 11 am to deliver Burnaby, New Westminster and Coquitlam.

We provide delivery cooler with instructions, i.e. clients' information and notes as needed.  

Communicate with Tonari Gumi staff regarding client concerns, undeliverable meals, etc.  Initial training and mileage reimbursement will be provided.  

Skills, Experience, Qualifications

Access to own vehicle

Current driver's license

Good knowledge of how to navigate delivery route

Time Commitment

Tuesdays, except two Tuesdays during Christmas and New Year, between 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Seeking both regular and on call volunteers, with minimum 3 months commitment.

All volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application process with Tonari Gumi, includes a volunteer application form, informal interview, in-person/online orientation.
