Our current songbooks include many songs but need to be cleaned up, reorganized, and updated for easier use.

Volunteers in this role will:

Help create clear, user-friendly songbooks for programs

We are looking for volunteers who:

Outreach Program Volunteer in Coquitlam– Seniors Activity Support
Volunteers are needed to support group activities for senior participants at the CQT program. This program provides a safe and welcoming space where seniors can enjoy light exercise, traditional Japanese games, and social interaction. Volunteers play an important role in assisting with activities and helping create a friendly, inclusive environment for participants.

We are looking for 2–3 volunteers, preferably with Japanese language ability, to assist with seniors’ activities in Coquitlam.


Description
Support seniors during group activities held at Maillardville Recreation Centre, Multipurpose Room #2 (ground level).
Assist with light exercise sessions, help facilitate traditional and current games such as Hyakunin Isshu / Bozu Mekuri and Fukuwarai, and provide general support during break time.
Occasionally assist during seminars or special sessions as part of the program.
Help with simple set-up and clean-up of activity materials as needed.
Communicate with Tonari Gumi staff regarding participant needs or concerns.

Skills, Experience, Qualifications
Interest in working with seniors Japanese language skills (basic conversation level is acceptable) Friendly, patient, and reliable Previous experience working with seniors is an asset but not required.

Time Commitment
Program schedule varies depending on the session.

Volunteer Drivers Are Needed to pick up and deliver hot meals to senior clients living in their own home and/or facility, for reasons of age and mobility issues are unable to prepare meals for themselves.  Tonari Gumi - Japanese Community Volunteers Association prepares Bento-style Japanese lunch and deliver on Tuesdays, 50 times a year.  This service not only deliver meals to valuable seniors, also provides social connections and assistance if needed.

We are looking for volunteers to help deliver meals in Vancouver, West/North Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, New Westminster and Coquitlam area.

Description

Pick up meals from our office in Vancouver at 10:30 am to deliver Vancouver, North/West Vancouver, and Richmond.  Meet up at the parking lot in Burnaby at 11 am to deliver Burnaby, New Westminster and Coquitlam.

We provide delivery cooler with instructions, i.e. clients' information and notes as needed.  

Communicate with Tonari Gumi staff regarding client concerns, undeliverable meals, etc.  Initial training and mileage reimbursement will be provided.

Access to own vehicle

Current driver's license

Good knowledge of how to navigate delivery route

Time Commitment
