Unity of New Westminster is looking for volunteers to help keep our property beautiful, welcoming, and inviting for everyone who visits. From tending gardens and planting flowers to sweeping pathways or pulling a few weeds, every small task contributes to creating a space where our community can gather and thrive.

Unity of New Westminster is looking for Cleaner Volunteers to help care for our indoor and outdoor spaces so they remain welcoming, peaceful, and ready for Sunday services and community activities. Whether you enjoy tidying indoor spaces or helping outside with grounds upkeep, your support will make a real difference.

As part of our cleaning and care team, you'll help create an environment where members, guests, and visitors feel comfortable, supported, and at home.

Responsibilities Assist with indoor cleaning such as dusting, vacuuming, wiping surfaces, and tidying common areas. Help clean washrooms, kitchen areas, and meeting spaces as needed. Support outdoor cleanup such as sweeping walkways, picking up debris, and light yard tidying. Help keep entrances and outdoor gathering areas neat and welcoming. Report any supply shortages or maintenance concerns. Work with fellow volunteers to complete tasks efficiently and respectfully. Help prepare the church environment for services, events, and community use. What We're Looking For Willing to help with cleaning and care tasks, indoors or outdoors. Dependable and able to follow through on agreed tasks. A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team. Able to do light physical activity such as standing, bending, lifting light items, or outdoor tidying. No previous cleaning experience is required.

Unity of New Westminster is looking for a Handyperson Volunteer to help keep our church building and grounds safe, functional, and welcoming. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical tasks, takes pride in caring for a shared space, and would like to contribute their skills in a meaningful way.

As part of our facilities support team, you'll help with small repairs, basic maintenance, and general upkeep so that our congregation and visitors can enjoy a clean, comfortable, and well-cared-for environment.

Responsibilities Assist with minor repairs around the church building and grounds. Help with basic maintenance tasks such as tightening fixtures, replacing light bulbs, and small touch-up jobs. Identify maintenance concerns that may need further attention. Support seasonal tasks and occasional improvement projects. Help keep tools, supplies, and maintenance areas organized. Work with church leadership or designated volunteers to prioritize tasks. Help ensure the church space remains safe, tidy, and welcoming. What We're Looking For Comfortable using basic hand tools and doing simple repair tasks. Dependable and able to work independently or with others. Observant and willing to notice small issues before they become bigger problems. Respectful of shared spaces and able to work carefully and safely. Previous maintenance or handyman experience is helpful, but not required for light tasks.

Unity of New Westminster is looking for Audio Visual Assistants to help create a welcoming and engaging experience during Sunday services and special events. Whether you already have experience or would like to learn, training and support are provided.

As part of our AV team, you'll help operate presentation software, sound equipment, and livestream technology so that everyone—both in person and online—can fully participate in our services and community events.

Responsibilities

Set up audio and visual equipment before services and events. Operate presentation software for song lyrics, videos, and presentations. Assist with livestreaming Sunday services and special events. Perform basic sound checks before services. Help troubleshoot simple technical issues. Pack away equipment after services. Work with the minister, musicians, and fellow volunteers to ensure services run smoothly.

What We're Looking For

Comfortable using computers or willing to learn. Dependable and able to arrive before services begin. Friendly and able to work well as part of a team. An interest in technology is an asset, but no previous AV experience is required.
