Volunteer Opportunity: Event & Fundraising Volunteer Team Member
Intent of Program
Seniors Services Society of BC (SSSBC) is seeking volunteers to support community events and fundraising initiatives that enhance programs for seniors. Volunteers will help plan and deliver events that build community connection and generate resources to sustain and grow services.
SSSBC is currently building a dedicated Event & Fundraising Volunteer Team. Volunteers will play a key role in shaping and supporting upcoming initiatives.
Duties
- Assist with planning and organizing fundraising and community events (e.g., Walk of Ages, social events, campaigns)
- Support event logistics including setup, registration, guest support, and cleanup
- Participate in outreach activities to promote events and encourage community involvement
- Support promotion of events through outreach efforts, including occasional assistance with SSSBC social media and community postings
- Assist with donor engagement activities such as preparing materials, thank-you communications, and follow-ups
- Support tracking of event participation and basic reporting
- Attend volunteer meetings and planning sessions as required
- Represent SSSBC in a professional, friendly, and inclusive manner
- Maintain confidentiality and follow SSSBC volunteer policies
Qualifications
- 19 years of age or older
- Interest in community events, fundraising, or nonprofit work
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Friendly, reliable, and flexible
- Previous experience in events, fundraising, customer service, or volunteering is an asset but not required
Requirements
- Criminal record check (mandatory)
- Provide current resume
- Provide two references
Commitment
- Minimum 4–6 month commitment preferred
- Flexible scheduling based on event timelines
- Availability for occasional evenings or weekends
Training & Support
- Orientation to SSSBC programs, policies, and event procedures
- Ongoing guidance from staff
- Opportunity to develop skills in event planning, community engagement, and fundraising
