We Need Your Help!
The WePress community kitchen has been operating since mid-June this year, and we make 200+ meals a day from Monday to Friday every week in teams of 4-5 people. These meals are delivered to Aboriginal Front Door, WAHRS, VANDU, OPS, and KT Camp at Strathcona Park as an effort to tackle issues of food security in the Downtown Eastside.
How This Works
You will be working in the kitchen in teams of 4-5 people to prepare these meals. Once you sign up for this opportunity, you will receive an email from the volunteer coordinator containing details on what your specific tasks for the day will be. We will put you in a team so you don't need to worry about bringing a team with you!

Additional Information
Our kitchen vibe is very relaxed, and we accept volunteers of all skill levels. Our days usually start at 8:30am and end anytime between 12-1pm.
Your health and safety are important to us
Maintain physical distancing by keeping a minimum 2-meter distance between you and any other person not in your immediate family.
Wearing a non-medical mask or face covering while out in public is recommended for periods of time when it's not possible to consistently maintain a 2-metre physical distance from others, particularly in crowded public settings.
Avoid touching your face and in particular your eyes, nose and mouth.
Practice good hand hygiene by washing your hands thoroughly and often. Wash hands with soap for a minimum of 20 seconds and rinse under clean running water.
If you are unwell, please stay home and do not volunteer. If you are at all unsure of your health status, the BC Centre for Disease Control’s online self-assessment tool is available at https://covid19.thrive.health/.
