Do you enjoy working with Seniors and want to support older adults?
This is a ‘one year’ project which consists of 23 cooking, learning, and social sharing sessions. These sessions will take place on every 2nd and 4th Tuesday morning from 9:30am to 12:30 pm, commencing on April 14, 2026. Each session will include practical nutrition tips, preparing simple recipes, and facilitated discussions and socialization opportunities in a warm social environment where everyone learns and works together. This also fosters an environment for making new friendships as meals are prepared and shared together. Volunteers will have the privilege of building intergenerational relationships with the older adults as they support them in the discussions and the preparation and clean up of the meals.
The volunteers will not be involved in the hands on cooking but will assist with the setting up, cleanup and takedown of the event.
We are looking for a minimum of 6 volunteers to assist with this new initiative.
Successful applicants will:
- Agree to an interview by phone
- Complete Compassionate Neighbours orientation process
- Submit a clean police information check (can be completed online via iVolunteer or you can contact us for a form to submit to the local RCMP office - Canadian citizenship is required for this.
