About this event:
Delta Community Literacy is hosting a Children's Free Book Fair at the North Delta Rec Centre from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Fair celebrates the magic of storytelling, creativity, curiosity, imagination, and language.
We are looking for four enthusiastic volunteers with a passion for literacy and a desire to inspire young readers to join us for this exciting opportunity. The Children's Free Book Fair aims to spark a love for books in children and give them a jumpstart into summer reading!
Note: Due to the nature of this event, volunteers will be required to have a vulnerable sector criminal record check. Clearance check applications may take up to three weeks to process. Click HERE to apply for your free criminal record check through iVolunteer.
Volunteer roles and responsibilities:
We count on our volunteers to make our events successful. We ask that volunteers are punctual, reliable, with the ability to be adaptable and work collaboratively as a team.
- Event set-up/take-down: All volunteers arrive at 1pm help with setting up before the event and stay until 4:30 pm to help with packing/cleaning up after the event.
- Activity support: Engage with children during various literacy-related activities.
- General event logistics: Assist with registration, guide guests and ensure a smooth flow of activities
