
Event Overview:
Join us for an enchanting evening at the Intercultural Winter Solstice Festival and Lantern Walk! This event celebrates the beauty of cultural diversity through a magical lantern procession around Mackin Park. Registered participants will craft their own lanterns with the assistance of our dedicated volunteers, culminating in a festive procession. Post-procession, we'll gather for delightful refreshments and warm company.
Volunteer Check-in:
- Volunteer Arrival: Please arrive by 3:30 PM and check-in with the Volunteer Coordinator (Cindy).
- Keep Warm: We'll give you a red toque to keep your head and ears warm. It's yours to keep!
- Event Overview: We'll have a brief group check-in with all volunteers to review of the flow of the evening.
- Food: Help yourself to pizza and a beverage before you get started!
Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities:
- Event Set-Up (4:00 PM - 4:30 PM): Help set up tables, signage, lantern-making stations, refreshment station and decorations.
- Participant Check-In (5:00 PM - 5:30 PM): Welcome participants and assist in registering.
- Lantern-Making Activity (5:30 PM - 6:30 PM): Guide participants in creating unique lanterns.
- Activity Station Clean-Up (6:30 PM - 6:45 PM): Help tidy the lantern-making area.
- Refreshment Distribution (7:00 PM - 8:30 PM): Serve snacks and drinks to procession participants.
- Event Tear-Down (8:30 PM - 9:00 PM): Assist in dismantling and cleaning the event space.
Orientation Session:
Dec 19 at 7 PM. We'll email the link to the orientation to registered volunteers closer to the date. Volunteers are strongly encouraged to attend the orientation as you'll meet your volunteer team and learn important information about the event, venue, volunteer roles, and responsibilities. You'll also meet your volunteer leaders, who will be able to answer any questions you may have about the event.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR VOLUNTEERS:
Please get in touch with Erinn immediately if:
- you feel unwell before or on the day of your shift. Please stay home and do not volunteer.
- you are unable to fulfill your shift commitment. If possible, please try to provide a minimum notice of two days to allow us to make alternate arrangements or find another volunteer.
REMINDER: It’s important to unregister yourself from the shift if you cannot fulfill your commitment – this will allow another volunteer to register for your spot.
