Description

Join us for a rad evening under the stars at SK8 Flix Cinema in the Park, featuring a lineup of gnarly skateboarding shorts!

About the role:

Our event aims to unite people, encourage social interaction, and foster community bonding, all essential for building a sense of belonging and unity. Volunteers play a significant role in making events like this memorable for our community.

Volunteers will help us with event setup and tear down, serving popcorn and drinks, or managing a snack station. We'll hook you up with some dinner to keep your energy up.  Plus you'll get to watch the epic shorts during the event - talk about a rad bonus!

This is the perfect opportunity for skateboarding enthusiasts, anyone looking to gain experience in event management and community service, families and friends wanting to volunteer together, and high school students needing volunteer hours. For new volunteers, this is an easy way to get started on your volunteer journey!

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist with event set-up and tear-down
  • Help create a festive atmosphere and welcome attendees
  • Serve popcorn and drinks, or manage a snack station

Volunteer benefits:

Volunteering for events like this helps build a stronger, more connected community. By volunteering for this event, you will:

  • Be part of a vibrant community event and meet new people
  • Meet like-minded people and grow your network
  • Gain valuable experience in event setup and community engagement
  • Contribute to creating memorable community experiences
  • Add valuable community service experience to your volunteer resume!

Information session:

Before the event, we will host an information session to review the roles, responsibilities, and safety protocols. This session is an excellent opportunity to ask questions and meet fellow volunteers. We'll email the details to registered volunteers.

Safety precautions for summer events:

  • Stay hydrated! Drink plenty of water during your shift
  • Wear light, breathable clothing and comfortable shoes
  • Use sunscreen and wear a hat to protect you from the sun
  • Take breaks and rest in a shaded area to avoid overheating
  • Please see United Way BC staff if you feel unwell from sun exposure

We look forward to seeing you there!
