There is a huge need for child car seats in our community. With the increase in the cost of living, these essential items are pushed down the priority list.
By delivering these car seats you ensure that children travel safely in vehicles. The car seats are distributed to families in need in your local community.
Collecting car seats from one of the Community Hub and delivering to another location where the car seats will be provided to those in need.
This role will involve partnering with a friend or colleague to help with directions as well as the loading and unloading of car seats. Please ensure that each individual signs up for this opportunity.
Responsibilities:
- Volunteers will directed by UWBC staff, but work independently on the road.
- Ability to transport between 2-8 car seats in vehicle is preferable
- Using directions to locate community agency (or satellite navigation/Google Maps).
- Ability to drive between 1-3 hours from one Community Hub location to another
- When delivering car seats to the destination a photo with staff on hand is encouraged as a way to document this wonderful initiative
- No requirement to enter premises of community agency. No requirement to provide other services to community agency
- Every effort should be made to maintain safety standards and to work with others to achieve the goal.
Time Commitment: 2-3 hours
This is a one-time event; it will start at 9am and last approximately 2-3 hours total depending on the delivery location. The event will commence on August 8th.
There will be a volunteer debrief before the event; expectations will be explained at this time.
