Volunteers will be supporting the work of Translink. Staff at Translink require a few volunteers who are fluent in Ukrainian to attend virtual Translink training sessions for displaced Ukrainian families.
Translink employees will present the info session in English. Volunteers are needed to translate English to Ukrainian verbally during the info session. Questions from Ukrainian speakers attending the training will need to be translated to English for the Translink Employees.
What you will be helping with:
- Translate English to Ukrainian one sentence at a time as the Translink employee presents at the info session
- Translate Ukrainian to English one sentence at a time as needed when Ukrainian attendees have questions for Translink employees
- Translate English to Ukrainian one sentence at a time as needed when Translink Employess are responding to Ukrainian attendees questions
- Volunteers are to log their hours after each training session they respond too.
Other Helpful Information:
- Volunteers must be fluent in Ukrainian.
- Volunteering happens from home.
- Volunteers must have access to a computer or device that has a working camera for the video training sessions
- Volunteers contact information will be shared with a Translink Coordinator
- A Translink Link Coordinator will connect with volunteers prior to the info session to provide more information
- If volunteers are no longer available to assist, please unregister from this opportunity or let coordinator know to allow new volunteers to register.
Time Commitment: up to 2 hours. This is a recurring commitment to fulfill an immediate need. You may sign up for one or more shifts.
