Seeking compassionate and community-oriented volunteers to help pick up and distribute pet food to clients at our weekly food bank.
Volunteers will need:
- passion for food stability! In this case, pet food!
- a desire to help keep people and their pets together to reduce surrenders
- excellent communication skills
- ability to lift 40+ lbs repeatedly
- access to your own vehicle
- interest in inventory organization is appreciated!
- ability for team communication through FB Groups (or email)
We have a roster for volunteer shifts. Each Tuesday evening we work in pairs to operate our pet food bank. We load food and supplies into our vehicles and transport them to our North Shore food bank location. Our foodbank runs 6-7 pm every week. We then return leftover supplies back to our storage unit. There is a fair amount of heavy lifting, and we require calm compassion and non-judgment of client needs.
We require a minimum six-month commitment, a minimum of three hours per month including team communication.
Psychological first aid or crisis intervention training (or similar) would be an asset.
