On Nov 3, 2022 the Ministry of Health announced new regulations regarding the operations of independent (self-led, self-determining and democratic) resident and/or family councils in long-term care homes throughout BC. https://news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2022HLTH0214-001642 "Long-term care homes are people's homes and its important that resident and family members have a place to share concerns and ideas when it come to decisions about how the homes are operating said Adrian Dix, Minister of Health. The province is strengthening support and oversight of resident and family councils, and encouraging long-term care homes currently without a council to establish one to ensure greater voices for residents and their families in decisions that affect them and their loved ones personally".
