This position supports Society of Organized Services (SOS) mission and core values by helping seniors maintain their independence and social interaction by helping seniors who may have mobility or sensory issues with their grocery shopping every other week.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Bend
or stretch to reach products the clients are looking for
Help
visually impaired clients to read the packaging on products
Help
clients with grocery check out if required
Help
clients load their groceries onto the bus and then off the bus to their front
door
Establish
a rapport with the clients and develop a friendly supportive relationship
Ensure
that all clients requiring assistance are being helped
The
SOS Volunteer Policy binds to and forms part of this job description which will be provided during the application process
Required Qualifications:
Ability
to lift bags of groceries weighing up to 30 lbs each
Ability
to reach for items on high store shelves
Schedule, Training and Commitment:
On
shift training provided including Occupational Health and Safety
Shifts
available: 3 to 3.5 hours every second Friday
