The Vice President of Volunteer Kamloops plays a critical leadership role in supporting the President and ensuring the effective operation of the organization. As this is an operational board, the Vice President actively participates in day-to-day activities, coordinates board initiatives, and steps in as acting President when required. The Vice President is responsible for ensuring adherence to Robert’s Rules of Order in meetings, assisting in strategic planning, and fostering community engagement to promote volunteerism.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Operations
• Support the President in overseeing and managing the organization’s operations, ensuring alignment with Volunteer Kamloops’ mission and objectives.
• Serve as the presiding officer in the absence of the President, maintaining order and efficiency in meetings using Robert’s Rules of Order.
• Assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and board directives to sustain effective operations.
• Coordinate with board members and volunteers to ensure that daily tasks and operational duties are completed.
Community Engagement & Advocacy
• Represent Volunteer Kamloops at events, partnerships, and public relations efforts to promote community involvement.
• Assist in cultivating relationships with community groups, non-profits, government agencies, and businesses to enhance outreach and impact.
• Advocate for policies and initiatives that support volunteerism and the organization’s role in the community.
Strategic Planning & Organizational Development
• Work alongside the President, Board, and staff, to develop and implement strategic plans that drive organizational success.
• Support financial sustainability efforts by participating in fundraising, grant applications, and donor relations.
• Promote an inclusive and engaging environment that encourages diverse volunteer participation.
Board & Committee Oversight
• Support and guide staff in their operational roles, ensuring alignment with the organization’s priorities.
• Oversee committees as assigned by the President, ensuring effective communication and goal achievement.
• Assist in board development, including mentorship, training, and succession planning to maintain a strong operational structure.
Meeting Facilitation & Decision-Making
• Collaborate with the President in preparing meeting agendas and ensuring structured discussions using Robert’s Rules of Order.
• Provide input on key decisions and initiatives, ensuring fair and democratic board deliberations.
• Cast a deciding vote in meetings in the absence of the President when required.
Qualifications & Skills
• Experience in leadership roles within non-profits, community organizations, or volunteer initiatives.
• Knowledge of Robert’s Rules of Order and ability to facilitate structured and productive meetings.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to support board operations and volunteer engagement.
• Passion for community service and a commitment to strengthening volunteerism in Kamloops.
• Problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking to support the organization’s growth and sustainability.
• Willingness to take an active, hands-on role in organizational operations.
Term & Commitment
• The Vice President serves a term as outlined in the bylaws of Volunteer Kamloops, with expectations for active participation in board meetings, operational tasks, and community events.
