The Interior Women’s Centre Society is a community organization dedicated to empowering women and their families. Our Drop-In Centre provides a safe and welcoming space where women can connect with advocates, access essential services, and take part in supportive programs. As a Volunteer Front Desk and General Drop-In Volunteer, you are essential to the smooth operation of the Interior Women’s Centre Society’s Drop-In Centre. You will be the first point of contact for clients and visitors, providing a welcoming, supportive, and friendly presence.

A Front Desk and Drop-In Support Volunteer’s main tasks are:
Greet clients and visitors in a warm, friendly, and professional manner.
Answer phones, direct calls, and relay messages to staff.
Sign-in clients and notify advocates or staff of their arrival.
Schedule and book appointments for advocates or service providers.
Provide general information about the Centre’s services, programs, and resources.
Open the Drop-In Centre and ensure it is ready for clients and stocked with supplies.
Maintain a clean and organized environment
Replenish harm reduction bins, essential items, and other supplies as needed.
Track inventory and report low stock to the appropriate team members.
Assist with administrative tasks
Perform light physical tasks such as sorting donations, organizing supplies, and stocking shelves.
Respect confidentiality and privacy when handling sensitive information.
Ensure informational materials (brochures, flyers, etc.) are up-to-date and accessible.
Perform office tasks including photocopying, printing, and data entry as needed.
Time Commitment:
This is a volunteer position with flexible hours. The expected time commitment is approximately 10-15 hours per week, with shifts available during business hours. The volunteer should be able to commit to a regular schedule for consistency.
Training will be provided for the tasks volunteers will be responsible for, along with a general orientation of the centre. Beneficial qualifications include:
Prior volunteer or work experience in a community-based, social services, or customer service environment is an asset.
