The Interior Women’s Centre Society (IWCS) is a community organization dedicated to empowering women and families. We provide a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space where women can access support for challenges like legal issues, housing, and advocacy. Our goal is to help women overcome barriers and build independent, sustainable futures. 

You will play a key role at the IWCS by providing general support across our Centre’s daily operations and weekly Farmers Market booth. In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience in customer service, administration, retail, and community engagement, while helping maintain a women-centred, trauma-informed space.

A General Support Volunteer’s main tasks are: 

  • Greet visitors and provide basic information about programs and services. 

  • Assist with administrative tasks and maintain cleanliness of shared spaces. 

  • Support event preparation, workshop setup, and light hospitality (e.g., coffee, snacks). 

  • Help maintain donation inventory and organize essential items for distribution. 

  • Provide general reception support, including answering phones and taking messages. 

  • Assist with booth setup and takedown on market days (Wednesdays, 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM). 

  • Support merchandising and sales of IWCS merchandise, community-made crafts, and chicken adoptions. 

  • Share information with the public about IWCS programs and community initiatives. 

  • Engage with customers in a friendly and respectful manner to ensure a positive market experience. 

  • Help manage inventory and track donations or purchases. 

Time Commitment:

This is a volunteer position with flexible hours. The expected time commitment is approximately 10-15 hours per week, with shifts available during business hours. The volunteer should be able to commit to a regular schedule for consistency.


Training and a centre orientation will be provided. Beneficial qualifications include: 


  • Basic computer literacy (email, forms, etc.). 

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. 

  • Ability to work outdoors during market days.
