Mentoring relationships to ignite the power and potential of young people.
As an Adult In-School Mentor, you’ll be matched with an elementary school student in Kamloops and meet with them once a week for about an hour during school hours. Together, you’ll play games, make art, enjoy sports, or simply hang out and build a meaningful connection.
This is the right role for you if you are someone who:
Enjoys spending time with children
Likes playing games and doing crafts
Is a good listener who encourages and supports others
Is open to learning and growing through mentorship
A Position Title Volunteer’s main tasks are:
Honouring the weekly commitment to meet with your mentee
Planning activities and games that fit your mentee’s interests
Building rapport by asking questions and sharing about life experiences
Training & Experience
Mentors receive 2 hours of training before being matched, and a staff member provides ongoing check-ins and support. No formal tutoring experience is required—just patience, consistency, and a willingness to help.
Time Commitment
45 minutes to 1 hour per week
Runs from October to May, following the school calendar
Breaks include 2 weeks in December and 2 weeks in March
Note:All volunteering takes place on school grounds during school hours.
