Unity of New Westminster is looking for a Handyperson Volunteer to help keep our church building and grounds safe, functional, and welcoming. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical tasks, takes pride in caring for a shared space, and would like to contribute their skills in a meaningful way.
As part of our facilities support team, you'll help with small repairs, basic maintenance, and general upkeep so that our congregation and visitors can enjoy a clean, comfortable, and well-cared-for environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with minor repairs around the church building and grounds.
- Help with basic maintenance tasks such as tightening fixtures, replacing light bulbs, and small touch-up jobs.
- Identify maintenance concerns that may need further attention.
- Support seasonal tasks and occasional improvement projects.
- Help keep tools, supplies, and maintenance areas organized.
- Work with church leadership or designated volunteers to prioritize tasks.
- Help ensure the church space remains safe, tidy, and welcoming.
What We're Looking For
- Comfortable using basic hand tools and doing simple repair tasks.
- Dependable and able to work independently or with others.
- Observant and willing to notice small issues before they become bigger problems.
- Respectful of shared spaces and able to work carefully and safely.
- Previous maintenance or handyman experience is helpful, but not required for light tasks.
