Can you help check-in on a neighbour in need of social connectedness?
A senior would appreciate a friendly phone call from a volunteer! If you’re comfortable connecting with new people and making light conversation this is the perfect opportunity!
How this works:
Once you've responded to this opportunity, we'll contact you with details. This is meant to be a friendly check-in call with light, cheerful conversation.
If at any time during the call:
- you become concerned about the mental or physical wellbeing of the person you are calling, if appropriate, please ask the individual to call BC211 (dial 211) and email the contact person below immediately after the call with a summary of your concerns. We will follow up with the individual to ensure he/she has been connected to the proper community supports.
- the conversation becomes uncomfortable or inappropriate, politely end the call and email the contact person below immediately with a summary of the call. We will follow up directly with the individual.
Time Commitment: 30 min - 1 hour. This is a one-time commitment to fulfil an immediate need. You may sign up for one or more shifts.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR VOLUNTEERS: Please contact (mandyg@uwlm.ca) and info@ivolunteer.ca immediately if:
- you feel unwell before or on the day of your shift.
- you are unable to fulfil your shift commitment. If possible, please try to provide a minimum notice of two days to allow us to make alternate arrangements or find another volunteer.
REMINDER: It’s important to unregister yourself from the shift if you are unable to fulfil your commitment – this will allow another volunteer to register for your spot.
