In 2017, United Way of the Lower Mainland piloted a “Tampon Tuesday” initiative, collecting over 30,000 menstrual products for our community agencies in the Lower Mainland.
In 2018, donations increased almost 7 times over – we collected over 220,000 individual products!
This year we hope to collect even more donations for those in need, in our own neighbourhoods.
After our product drive has finished, we need your help to deliver it to partner agencies across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley.
Purpose of position:
Supports transportation of product collected during the United Way Period Promise campaign from the office in Burnaby to partner agencies around the Lower Mainland.
Duties of the Position:
- Volunteer has the responsibility of being on time for the pickups and deliveries.
- Volunteer will drive to United Way's office, carry boxes of product to their vehicle, and deliver product to agency locations around the Lower Mainland.
- Volunteer will act as United Way ambassador, taking pictures and thanking involved parties on behalf of United Way.
- Volunteer will act and behave ethically and politely keeping the best interest of the United Way of the Lower Mainland campaign in mind.
- Volunteer will work primarily off-site making use of their personal or company vehicle
Commitment required:
- Need to pick up product from our site in Burnaby and deliver it to a partner agency located in Lower Mainland. We will organise deliveries to be as close to your desired home location to the best of our ability.
Skills, Experience and/or Qualifications required:
- Access to a vehicle and driver’s license
- Punctuality
- Professionalism

- Ability to represent United Way’s Period Promise Message
Training provided:
Volunteers will attend a 20-minute training session on the day of the shift
Mileage Reimbursement:
Mileage to be paid by United Way. Payment will be made via cheque to volunteer's address.
