About the role:
Volunteers are essential to this event's success. As event helpers, you will create a warm, welcoming atmosphere where seniors can engage in meaningful conversations, share stories, and make new friends over coffee and donuts.
This volunteer experience will appeal to a wide range of people, particularly to:
- Seniors looking to expand their social circle,
- Individuals interested in supporting and engaging with the seniors community in Sunset,
- High school students seeking intergenerational learning opportunities,
- Individuals working or considering a career in senior care and support,
- Anyone who enjoys meaningful conversations and wants to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
Key responsibilities:
As an event helper, you are vital to the success of this social gathering. Key tasks may include:
- Assisting with pre-social set up: setting up display boards and event signage
- Ensure the event area is tidy and organized
- Greeting guests as they arrive and assisting with registration
- Distributing any print materials
- Directing guests to the event area in the cafe
- Providing support to guests as needed
- Participating in the conversations after the above tasks are completed
Conversational Punjabi or Tagalog language skills may be an asset but are not a requirement.
