Would you be willing to spare approx 1 hour per week to connect with someone who is currently a caregiver for an older adult?

The Compassionate Neighourhood Health Partners Society (Compassionate Neighbours) is seeking adult volunteers to support those who are caregivers for older adults, by providing one-to-one weekly supportive, social visits.

Volunteers are matched with a caregiver who they will visit on a weekly basis, preferably in person, but there may be limited opportunities to connect via telephone or virtually. The purpose of these connections is to check in regularly with the caregiver, as well as to provide a positive, friendly visit. Each visit or call can range from a quick 10 minute check-in to an hour-long visit.

This opportunity provides some flexibility and allows you to choose a time and place to connect that is convenient for both you and the caregiver. Some training will be provided.

Your time spent volunteering will be logged each month to fulfill grant requirements and to provide you with recognition at the end of your volunteering, or on request for education or employment references.

Successful applicants will:

- Agree to an interview by phone

- Complete Compassionate Neighbours orientation process

- Submit a clean police information check (can be completed online via iVolunteer or you can contact us for a form to submit to the local RCMP office - Canadian citizenship is required for this)

- Live in Chilliwack (or nearby and willing to come to Chilliwack for in-person visits with the caregiver)

- Require the use of a car

- Possess past, informal caregiver experience for an older adult

The Board of The Capilano Review Arts Society, publisher of The Capilano Review, is seeking a Treasurer to oversee the organization’s finances, including: budget projections; advice to the staff and Board on financial matters, e.g., on expected surplus or deficits; advice where necessary on financial strategies such as long-term investments, streamlining of financial systems, etc.; and presentation of the completed fiscal year statements at the AGM. 

The Capilano Review offers a welcoming and thoughtful space for the work of established and emerging writers and artists from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds. Joining TCR’s Board offers candidates an opportunity to directly and actively support the local arts and writing community. 

The finances of The Capilano Review are managed by a professional bookkeeper and the year-end review engagement is conducted by an accountant. The role of the Board Treasurer is to provide oversight and guidance. 

The Board meets four times per year. Additional meetings with staff or regarding timely matters may occasionally arise. Board members are elected to three-year terms, renewable for another three if the member wishes.

Screeners are often the first point of contact that clients will have at the Food Bank and are therefore essential in ensuring a positive experience.

Clients will call between 10am - 12pm to book a shopping appointment for their hampers the same afternoon. Screeners will answer these calls, manage the appointment schedule for that day, check client information, register new clients, and record data into our online reporting system. In the morning, screeners will also receive and put away food deliveries if there is time.

Fillers ensure a welcoming, efficient, and informed shopping experience for clients at the Kimberley Helping Hands Food Bank (KHHFB), while supporting the accuracy of food distribution and reporting. This role is integral to creating a positive experience for clients and ensuring the smooth operation of the food bank’s services.

The typical responsibilities during the filler shift are as follows: 

Greet clients as they arrive at the food bank.

Ask them whether or not they’re familiar with the current KHHFB shopping system.

If the client is unfamiliar, explain the current shopping system, including colour coding and family size.

Inform clients of any specialty items available that day, such as donated bread or treats.

Answer any questions that clients may have as they shop and provide extra shopping bags or boxes if needed.

Weigh all food, toiletry, and/or pet food items,

Record total weight and monetary value on appropriate forms.

Input shopping visit into Link2Feed digital reporting system. 

Restock shelves as needed, ensuring date rotation to minimise food waste

Monitor food quality, ensuring no unfit items are distributed.

Brella Community Services Society is seeking compassionate and reliable volunteers to provide meaningful social visits to older adults in the community. As a Friendly Visitor, you’ll be matched with a senior to offer regular companionship through in-person visits at the client's home or a local café, depending on the client's preferences and your availability. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys conversation, building relationships, and making a positive impact on someone’s emotional well-being. Duties will depend on your specific volunteer role and may include:

The Hastings Sunrise Community Policing Centre (HSCPC) is a volunteer-based organization that is committed to keeping our community safe and enhancing our quality of life. HSCPC volunteers perform regular litter clean-ups and graffiti paint-outs, actively participating in the City of Vancouver Neighbourhood Cleanup Party program. The purpose of this program is to reduce the amount of graffiti, garbage, and hazardous materials, such as needles, abandoned in the neighbourhood. Would you like to help new Canadians settle into their new community? Be part of a small group (2-4) of volunteers who are matched (by DIVERSEcity staff) with a newcomer family, to support them on their local settlement journey. As a team, you will provide holistic settlement support through general community introductions and orientation, connection to resources, language practice, and social integration (familiarizing them with the transit system, navigating childcare, finding a family doctor, etc.). Volunteers may also join their matched family at staff-led monthly Conversation Circle activities, supporting them in the development of conversational English.

Volunteers, known as Pilots, are the heartbeat of our organization. They are the public face of VCWAS who provide the trishaw rides to seniors and their families, connect with the community, and represent the organization while they're out on the bike lanes of Vancouver. All Pilots must pass a Criminal Record Check, be physically able to ride a bicycle, and be comfortable independently and professionally interacting with seniors and other members of the public.

We ask for a minimum requirement of 1 shift per week (approximately 3 hours) from our Pilots between the months of May to October, understanding that there may be some weeks during that period while you are away and unable to ride. Our passengers and partner organizations value relationships and the consistency of our Pilots directly corresponds to the quality of the rides we provide. Prospective Pilots who are available for shifts on weekdays between 9am - 5pm, when a majority of our rides occur, will be prioritized.

During the months of February, March and April, all new Pilots will be required to attend up to approximately 15 total hours of training and ride time to learn how to operate the trishaws and support seniors, as well as complete a criminal record check. Role Overview:

As a Volunteer Driver, you'll use your own vehicle to help local seniors get to essential medical appointments, run errands, or attend social outings in Lake Country or Kelowna. How It Works:
You let us know when you're available, and we match you with ride requests that fit your schedule. Whether you can commit once a month or once a week, your time makes a real impact.

Time Commitment:

·        Rides take place Monday to Friday, between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM

·        Each trip lasts 1–3 hours, depending on the destination

·        Flexible commitment — volunteer for as few or as many rides as your schedule allows

·        Drive a senior safely to and from their destination

·        Offer light support and companionship before, during, or after the trip

Program Overview:

The We Are Familee-Rainbow Circle Program a dedicated initiative aimed at supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ seniors to age at home. We recognize the unique challenges faced by seniors within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, including feelings of isolation, the need for culturally appropriate support, and the reliance on chosen family who may be facing similar challenges. Our program is designed to address these needs, offering inclusive and compassionate short term 1 on 1 support that improves participants’ culturally relevant community connections, support networks and confidence in aging in place.

The Rainbow Circle aims to empower 2SLGBTQIA+ seniors to age with dignity and receive the support they require by assessing their current needs and identifying ways in which queer volunteers can provide assistance in their daily lives. Senior participants are matched with a trained 2SLGBTQIA+ volunteer who fosters a supportive and meaningful relationship over the course of 3-4 months, helping to increase their connections and wraparound supports.

Position Description:

·       Offer a range of supportive services that enhance the well-being of the queer senior participant you are place with, including:

Connection to community resources, linking seniors with local groups, services,

events, and online support systems.

Social visits to combat loneliness and foster companionship that include chats, reading

Emotional support, providing a listening ear and empathetic understanding.

Taking strolls throughout the community, encouraging movement and autonomy.

Goal and Mission for our Volunteers:

We value our volunteers because they will assist Gardens4Kids in our mission to provide outreach education and engagement to families and also make available an ongoing community shared gardening plot.

Gardens4Kids is invited to provide education and tactile programming at events across the City of New Westminster. Our events often include a craft related to gardening, a planting exercise and an educational activity for children to do with their family.

Our events are often all ages (even adults have fun!) and require volunteers to interact with the public. Please note, volunteers will not be required or expected to supervise children as parents are expected to be interacting with their children and actively involved.

Our Better at Home programs support seniors with simple, day-to-day tasks, allowing them to live independently and remain connected to their communities.  As seniors seek to age in place, they can sometimes lose connection with friends and family. By connecting with seniors for some friendly company, caring volunteers can significantly reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness, making a real difference in a senior’s life.

    Collaborating with the senior to plan the activity you want to do together.

·     Simple activities could include having friendly conversations, walking in the neighborhood, coloring, simple art projects, baking, having coffee or tea, playing cards or a game, reading, watching TV and talking about the program afterward, and connecting the senior with community resources.

·         This volunteer role would be a good fit for those with some free time during daytime hours and who         enjoy spending quality time with others.

·      Mileage reimbursement:( $.75/KM Mileage sheet will be provided)

BETTER AT HOME volunteers help seniors who live in the following areas: Port Alberni. Our Better at Home programs support low or modest-income seniors with simple, day-to-day tasks that allow them to live independently and remain connected to their communities.

·         Must own or have access to a vehicle in good operating condition.

·         Must have adequate insurance coverage (more information available).

·         Driver’s Abstract indicating a safe driving record.

About the Role  

We are looking to fill committee roles in any of our 31+ committees across Canada.

As a Committee Member for Ovarian Cancer Canadas Walk of Hope, you'll play a key role in planning and executing a successful fundraiser. Your contributions, whether coordinating entertainment, organizing logistics, managing food and beverage, overseeing registration and finances, or providing general support, will help create an unforgettable experience for participants and supporters. Entertainment Lead: Coordinate event entertainment, book performers, and ensure a fun and engaging atmosphere. 

Food & Beverage Lead: Arrange catering, manage food vendors, and ensure dietary needs and safety standards are met. 

Logistics Lead: Oversee event setup, layout, equipment, and day-of logistics to ensure smooth operations. 

Registration & Finance Lead: Manage participant sign-ups, handle financial transactions, and track donations. 

General Committee Member: Support various areas as needed, assisting with planning, outreach, and event execution.

On site event support on September 7th, 2025. Most Walks begin at approximately 9am and end by 1 pm. 

Optional Drop-In Sessions: OCC will be offering drop-in sessions for any Walk location committee that may have questions or need extra support.

More Than Just a Meal...

Meals on Wheels volunteers provide more than nourishment—they deliver care, connection, and support to vulnerable seniors, helping them stay healthy and independent in their homes. We need reliable, punctual volunteers with a good driving record and their own vehicle to deliver meals and a friendly greeting to homebound seniors in Prince George.

Here’s how it works:
You’ll pick up meals and follow a pre-determined route, delivering directly to several seniors' homes. Once deliveries are completed, you return the delivery hamper—quick and simple! We offer flexible schedules that can accommodate your availability, whether it’s once a week, once a month, or on an as-needed basis. Meals are delivered Monday to Friday, from 10 AM to 12 PM.

The PGCOS Emergency Warming Centre is now open, offering a safe and welcoming space for seniors during extreme cold, heat, or smoke events. As more seniors learn about this vital resource, we hope to expand our support.

The Kitsilano Showboat is a non-profit, volunteer-run society dedicated to the promotion of up-and-coming and established talent in the performing arts at our Kitsilano Beach Stage.

We are seeking to expand our volunteer base with opportunities in various capacities from MCs to stagehands, grant writing, fundraising, recruit and manage volunteers and summer staff, program/production, Program book setup, prizes, and advertising.

Task Summary: 
A friendly visit creates lasting, meaningful relationships between seniors and volunteers. With regular visits, isolated seniors experience improved physical, mental and emotional health and gain a more positive outlook.

No clinical care is required. Your role as a friendly visitor volunteer would be to provide friendship, support and stimulation in the lives of isolated seniors.

This position requires a weekly or bi-weekly commitment. Visits are typically 1 – 2 hours in length.

Qualifications:

·         Obtain and maintain a successful clearance of a criminal record check (cost covered by CCS) and provide satisfactory references

·         Excellent communication skills demonstrating empathy.

·         Be flexible-- your volunteer hours will be negotiated with the senior directly, in order to decide on a mutually convenient time and location for meeting.

·         Be a reliable self-starter who prefers minimal supervision

·         This position requires an ability to work with people from a wide variety of life

situations. Must be non-judgmental & respect confidentiality.

·         Friendly visits with seniors are tailored to individual needs of both parties (the client and the volunteer). Some visits may include: sharing coffee or tea, sharing and teaching hobbies to seniors, provide help with reading, organizing, walking and assisting with errands. Volunteers do not drive clients and you can request to be matched to a senior who lives in your area.

·         Experience with seniors is an asset.

·         Have a desire to talk, listen and socialize with clients

*An ability to communicate in a second language is an asset, but not mandatory.

The Lillooet Learning Communities Society (Lillooet Learns) as the host organization of the Community Connect Innovation HUB and associated programs, has developed a baseline program that supports elders in the Lillooet Area by connecting them to each other and key services.

This program supports seniors with simple, day to day tasks that allow them to live independently and remain connected to their communities.

We value our volunteers because they will assist Gardens4Kids in our mission to provide outreach, education and engagement to families and also manage the community shared gardening plot. We advocate for urban gardening and getting children involved in growing their own food. 

The Assistant Garden Coordinator will assist the Garden Coordinators (founders of Gardens4Kids) in the following tasks:

There are 2 roles available.

This plot is intended to provide the following:

-a place for families to bring their children to learn more about gardening. We plan to accept 3-4 families to participate in our garden plot. This is our first year doing this so we will see how it goes logistically.

-a space for children to tend to a garden, but without the commitment or need to sign up for (and pay for) a community garden plot. There are long waitlists for gardening plots – we can share the plot and harvest we have!

-a place for families bring their children to enjoy the sensory aspects of a garden (the smell, to touch, to enjoy).

-a plot to address food security. In the early months of the summer there will be a lot of lettuce and herbs to share, mid-summer a ton of cucumbers, late August and September there will be tomatoes. We hope to address some food security issues for families and provide an accessible space for everyone to take what they need.

-we hope to have some events to gather and celebrate and learn from each other at the gardening plot. All volunteers are invited to participate in those events as well.

This position is perfect for someone who loves community engagement and building new connections. Your sole role will be to acquire new venues for us to host our seminars in. We are a newly established NPO that educates seniors on fraud prevention techniques through seminars hosted at community centres, retirement homes, libraries, etc. This position requires you to be constantly reaching out to new venues and offering our services. The S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Help Lines program provides a safe and supportive environment for Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean and Farsi-speaking residents by telephone who are in need of emotional support. As many Ukrainian immigrants settle in Canada, we expand this free service to Ukrainian-speaking residents to sustain their mental health. The Launching Ceremony of the Ukrainian Helpline was a momentous occasion, symbolizing a significant step forward in addressing the crucial issue of mental health support in the community. 

The Ukrainian Helpline is operational, offering emotional support to individuals in need, working hours Mon – Fri: 10 am – 8 pm, Sat – Sun: 10 am – 5 pm (BC). By calling 1 (888) 721 0596, Ext. 5. There are no age limitations, community members can connect with our empathetic trained volunteers who are dedicated to offering a listening ear during times of emotional distress. Do you enjoy the company of seniors? Do you have good listening and communication skills?  Do you have a few hours a month to help? If so, help us build an inclusive and supportive community for seniors by providing transportation to their medical appointments.  

We currently need supported transportation volunteers in Squamish, Whistler, and Pemberton. 

About This Role 

When a senior in Squamish, Whistler, or Pemberton has limited transportation options and needs help getting to and from a medical appointment, we call upon our awesome roster of volunteers to help the senior make it to their appointment. Currently, we need to grow our roster to be able to respond to the requests that are coming in.  

In this volunteer role, you would pick up the senior, assist them in getting to their medical appointment, and pick them up after the appointment to take them home. Some medical appointments happen within your community. However, an honorarium is offered if the medical appointment is outside of the community.  

Our volunteers can accept or decline requests based on their availability; you are always free to say no! 

We are looking for volunteers in the Squamish, Whistler, and Pemberton areas who have good working vehicles and safe driving records. We offer an honorarium for those who drive seniors outside of the community.   

We require a safe driving abstract and a minimum of $2m liability insurance for your vehicle.
