Volunteer: Coaching Assistant – Track Rascals Program (Age 6-8) - November

The Kamloops Track & Field club is a non-profit athletic club.  We work with athletes from 3 to 35 years of age but primarily focus on youth athletic development. Coaches train and work with athletes in both track and field events and we hold local indoor and outdoor track meets throughout the year. 
 

Our Track Rascals Program is an introductory run, jump and throw program for children that helps them learn how to develop their athletic talents in a supportive environment. As a Track Rascals Coaching Assistant, you will be an important part in helping run fun sessions once a week for children aged 6-8. To support the program, you will assist with practice set up, take down, working alongside our coaches to improve athletes' development and more!   

 

This is the right role for you if you are someone who: 

Loves working with younger children 

Is currently in an education or physical education program of study 

Has high energy  

Likes to have fun and mentor youth 

A Position Title Volunteer’s main tasks are: 

 Set up and take down of training stations before and after session 

 Working alongside athlete coaches to support athlete development  

 Being a positive role model for young children interested in athletics 

Teaching and demonstrating run, jump and throw events for athletes 

Time commitment: 

We ask that volunteers commit to 16 hours of their time across an 8-week period.   

Track Rascals sessions run every Tuesday from 5pm-6pm at TCC.   

 

This posting is for the second 8 week session in November 2025.

Volunteering in this role offers you:

Work alongside youth in a teaching and supporting role 

Free enrolment of Athletics Canada “Run, Jump, Throw & Wheel” course (This is integral to a career or development path in Canadian sports!)

Please note that a Criminal Record check will be required to work alongside youth in the club.

Our Junior Development Program is designed to work with youth athletes from age 9-13 on their track and field development.  Coaches work closely with athletes on run, jump, and throw events twice a week in this training program.  

 

As a Junior Development (JD) Assistant, you will be an important part in helping us run these sessions alongside our dedicated coaches. To support the program, you will assist with practice set up, take down, working alongside our coaches to improve athletes' development and more!   

This is the right role for you if you are someone who: 

Loves working youth athletes

Is currently in an education or physical education program of study 

Has high energy  

Likes to have fun and mentor youth 

Has a strong interest in athletic development 

A Position Title Volunteer’s main tasks are:

3.5 to 4 hours each week from approx. 4:15 pm to 6:15 pm on Monday and Wednesday from November 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026.
 
Sessions occur twice a week, Mon & Wed 4:30-6:00pm at the TCC Indoor Track. You will be required to set up and take down equipment, which may add up to 30 minutes before and after these sessions start.
