Volunteer: Social Dance Events Volunteer

Lindy in the Loops is a community-focused organization bringing people together through swing dancing in Kamloops. We host regular social dance events that celebrate jazz, foster connection, and build a vibrant local arts and culture scene. 


As a Social Dance Events Volunteer, you’ll be part of creating an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere where people can enjoy dancing, music, and community. You’ll get to connect with fellow dance enthusiasts while helping ensure everyone has a fun and memorable experience. Volunteers will work with the Lindy in the Loops leadership team to help ensure Friday night dances are a fun and safe time. 

This is the right role for you if you are someone who: 

Is interested in community arts and culture 

Has an appreciation for Jazz 

Believes in the good dancing can do for one’s quality of life 

Enjoys being part of a friendly, supportive team 

Is reliable and willing to pitch in wherever needed 

Feels comfortable meeting new people and starting conversations 


A Social Dance Events Volunteer’s main tasks can be: 

Set up and tear down during Friday dances 

Greeting people and making them feel welcome  

Assisting with admission at the door 

Helping maintain a safe and inclusive environment on the dance floor 

Answering questions and providing information about Lindy in the Loops 

No prior experience is required. Training and guidance will be provided by the Lindy in the Loops leadership team to make sure you feel comfortable and supported. 


Time commitment: 

Shifts take place on Fridays 6:30pm–10:30pm for dance set up, during the dance, and clean up. The time commitment is flexible and based on your availability.
