Volunteer: Community Engagement Volunteer Opportunity

Hi Neighbour is a United Way initiative that helps communities grow stronger, closer, and more connected. By bringing people together, we spark small actions that lead to big changes—creating neighbourhoods where everyone feels welcome, supported, and proud to belong.

As a Community Engagement Volunteer, you’ll be at the heart of Hi Neighbour Kamloops events. You’ll help set up booths, welcome community members, and spark conversations that celebrate local pride. With just a few hours of your time, you can help create stronger connections and make your neighbourhood a friendlier, more welcoming place.

This is the right role for you if you are someone who:
• Lives in a Hi Neighbour community
• Wants to help your neighbourhood feel closer and more connected
• Believes that small actions can create big change
• Enjoys starting conversations and meeting new people

A Community Engagement Volunteer’s main tasks are:
• Assisting with event setup and take-down
• Greeting community members and sparking meaningful conversations
• Sharing stories and celebrating local pride

Training & Experience
No training or prior experience is required. You’ll receive a welcome orientation with our Community Engagement Coordinator, Sam.

Time Commitment
Flexible—typically 1–2 hours per week. We’ll build around your schedule.

Volunteering in this role offers you:
• A fun and rewarding way to connect with your community
• The chance to make a real difference—one conversation at a time
• Opportunities to celebrate and strengthen neighbourhood pride
