Volunteer: Could You Be the Connector in Your Community?

Be a Community Connector

Every neighbourhood has people who bring others together—the ones who check in on a neighbour, share a smile, or spark an idea that makes life a little brighter.

That person could be you.

As a Community Connector with United Way’s Hi Neighbour, you’ll play a small but powerful role in making your community stronger, friendlier, and more welcoming. You don’t need special skills—just a caring heart and a few hours to give. We’ll support you every step of the way.

What makes a Community Connector?

You live in a Hi Neighbour community.

You want to help your neighbourhood feel closer and more connected.

You believe that small actions—like starting a conversation or inviting people in—can create big change.

What You’ll Get to Do

Bring neighbours together in ways that feel fun and meaningful.

Spark small projects or events that brighten your community.

Connect neighbours to one another and celebrate their stories.

Why It Matters

When neighbours are connected, people feel safer, healthier, and less alone. As a Community Connector, you’ll:

Meet new people and deepen local friendships.

Try out your ideas with encouragement and support from our team.

See the difference you can make—right where you live.

Be part of something bigger: a neighbourhood that truly feels like home.

Time Commitment

A welcome orientation with our Community Engagement Coordinator, Sam.

A few flexible hours a week.

Ready to Take the First Step?

If you’ve ever thought, “I wish my neighbourhood felt a little more connected,” this is your chance to make it happen.
