We are seeking passionate community members to join us in enriching lives in the Columbia Valley.

 

The Columbia Valley Community Foundation manages endowment funds whereby the donations are invested and the investment returns from these funds are granted to local non-profits and post-secondary students. The Foundation holds over $8.5 million in assets and through its history has supported more than 300 projects and nearly 500 post-secondary scholarships, granting over $3,000,000 into the community.

 

The Foundation’s board is focused on governance and strategic direction. This role is best suited for those interested in shaping big-picture goals rather than being involved in day-to-day operations.

 

The duties of the Board of Directors include:

•           Acting in accordance with the Foundation’s vision, mission, and values

•           Participating in strategic planning and risk management activities

•           Providing for the prudent management of the Foundation’s resources

•           Setting policy (creating guidelines for decision-making)

•           Hiring and monitoring pay and performance of the Executive Director

•           Representing the Foundation and enhancing links in the community

•           Participating, through one or more Standing Committee(s), in the work of the Foundation

 

The Foundation is especially seeking applicants who have:

•           Investment management expertise (for at least one position)

•           Marketing expertise

•           Strong community and corporate networks

Successful candidates will be elected to the board for a three year term at the Annual General Meeting in June 2027.

We are looking for passionate community minded individuals who want to play a crucial role in deciding which local initiatives, projects and organizations receive financial support. To be eligible for the committee we just ask that you live in and love the Columbia Valley. 

Time commitment is approximately 15 - 20 hours per granting cycle.
