Volunteer: Indian Summer Festival 2026

Job Description

Do you want to make a difference through Art, Culture, and Community? Join us as a volunteer for the 16th edition of Indian Summer Festival (ISF) and be part of a dynamic team bringing powerful, cross-cultural experiences to life.

The festival will take place across Vancouver from July 09-19, 2026, with opportunities available during the festival.

Indian Summer Arts Society (ISAS) is a Vancouver based not for profit, secular, multi arts organization founded in 2011. We are dedicated to amplifying diverse South Asian voices across performing, visual, literary, and folk arts.

Through our annual festival and year-round programming, we present some of Vancouver’s most distinctive cultural events featuring local, emerging, and globally renowned artists. Our work celebrates the richness and complexity of the South Asian diaspora while fostering dialogue across cultures and communities.

Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities

Volunteers contribute to ISF in a variety of roles, including:

Front of house support (ushering, greeting guesting, audience assistance)

Box office and merchandise sales (tickets, books, artist products)

Supporting accessibility and inclusive guest experiences

Artist hospitality and coordination

Event set-up and strike (take-down)

Decor installation. Stage setup, and space design

Deliveries and logistical support

Distributing promotional materials (poster, programs)

Photography and videography for social media

Requirements

As ambassadors of the festival, volunteers are expected to be:

Reliable, responsible, and punctual

Professional and culturally aware

Friendly, respectful, and guest-focused

Able to work independently and as part of a team

Adaptable, proactive, and willing to take initiative

Positive and enthusiastic

Time Commitment:

One training session in June (mandatory)

Minimum of 6 hours of volunteering during the festival (July 9-19)
