Qui nous sommes
Mission NELP primarily operates at West Heights Elementary School in Mission, BC. This program is partnered with School District #75, Mission. The district covers copying costs and provides physical facilities and liability insurance for participants. The remainder of the progra, such as childcare and food, is funded by a private benefactor.
Ce que nous faisons
The Neuro Emotional Literacy Program (NELP) teaches mothers and their children:
a) how emotion functions in the brain and body and
b) strategies and skills to manage emotions
in order to improve personal and familial well-being.
The program is designed and taught by Dr. Kate Patten from Simon Fraser University. Research shows that people who understand and practice self-regulation are more successful and enjoy better emotional and physical health; experience less stress; and are more successful academically, socially, and emotionally. This program is a joint partnership between Simon Fraser University and School District #75 (Mission). The program has been functioning for 6 years.
