Parent Support Services Society of BC is a provincial charitable organization founded in 1974 and incorporated as a Society January 22nd, 1976 as “British Columbia Parents In Crisis Society”. The name changed officially to Parent Support Services Society of BC on June 06, 2001.

PSS endorses and adopts the United Nation Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: Calls to Action. PSS acknowledges that indigenous children, youth, and their families have much to contribute to the world as empowered individuals with a profound understanding of their Indigenous identity, cultural heritage, sustainable living, and connection to their lands and territories.

We help the people we serve to connect with each other, their communities, themselves, their history, and their culture.

Ce que nous faisons

We offer support to parents, Grandparents and caregiver through our programs

  • Parenting Support Group. We offer support to parents, grandparents and caregivers in 7 languages (English, Arabic, Cantonese, Korean, Mandarin, Pilipino, and Spanish) across BC. The groups are run by two volunteer co-facilitators who are trained and supported by PSS staff and by other volunteers. Our Groups are based on a self-help, peer support model which provides a safe space for Circle members to get together and discuss their strengths, challenges or concerns about their parenting role of child development and parenting.
  • Circle of Security Parenting. A workshop series for 8 weeks. How secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened. For families with children 4 months to 12 years old.
  • Parenting Book Clubs. A seasonal 8-week via Zoom book club series to discuss some of today's best-selling parenting books, have the safe space to ask questions, receive information and resources and connect with other parents & caregivers.
  • Parenting Educational Workshops. The workshops provided to parents, caregivers, grandparents and others raising a relative’s the opportunities for connection and learning with other people in a similar family make-up through sharing of experiences, resources, and positive parenting strategies, and an opportunity to learn new skills.
  • Parenting Information and Referral. We provide information to parents, grandparents and caregivers about our programs and their local community resources.
