Who We Are
KEEF is a BC-based, all volunteer registered educational charity. We raise funds here to provide secondary and post-secondary scholarships in Kenya, E. Africa to bright youth there who are financially needy. (High School is not free in Kenya.)
We also search for grants to improve rural schools (libraries, kitchens, water collection, etc.) and to protect safe water sources for rural communities. Our 1.5 staff members in Kenya and local volunteers from KEEF Kenya oversee completion of these grant-funded projects.
What We Do
Currently, we fund about 100 secondary and 35 post-secondary students in Kenya.
The secondary students attend an annual multi-day Life Skills workshop, planned and presented by KEEF alumni and other Kenyan and Canadian volunteers. Issues such as conflict resolution, entrepreneurship, leadership, communication skills, teamwork, etc. are included.
Our very small Kenyan office is in Kakamega and we support secondary students living in that area of Kenya. Our post-secondary scholarship students may be attending institutions anywhere in Kenya. they are enrolled in a wide variety of technical and academic programs.
