People In Motion is proud to offer a variety of services to the community that help to improve quality of life and give opportunities for members of our community to realize their full potential, while encouraging self-determination and gaining independence through our educational, recreational, social and life skills programs that are fully inclusive and accessible.
Some of the programs we offer:
- Life Skills Classes & TRU Life Skills Classes
Focuses on expanding the range of day to day activities young adults living with disabilities can do independently. This interactive program is fun and teaches a variety of day to day skills
- Adult Social Club & Youth Social Club
Members enjoy recreation and social activities around Kamloops such as attending Blazers hockey games,
Kelowna Kangaroo Farm, Music In The Park, and other community events and activities!
- Roller Bowlers Bowling
Weekly Bowling at Falcon Lanes.
- Coffee & Cards Club
Members gather Friday mornings at the People In Motion office to have coffee, socialize and play card games.
- Walk N' Roll Club
Meets weekly to take a walk (or roll) through different parks and historical sites around Kamloops.
- Learn to Cook Class
Students will grow their kitchen confidence by learning important skills such as food prep, kitchen cleanup and safety, learn healthy meal choices and more. (They get to eat some pretty good food while they're at it!)
- Diverse Designs Class
Students of the Diverse Designs class make arts and crafts projects using a variety of materials and techniques such as, sculpting, painting, resin, beadwork and more!
- Indigenous Crafts
Students grow their hands-on crafting and creative thinking skills while also learning the cultural and historical significance of the projects they create.
- Youth Summer Day Camp & Youth Spring Break Day Camp
Our youth members (aged 6-18 years old) attend day camp activities during school breaks.
Other programs and services we offer:
Memories In Motion
We offer by donation accessible transportation through our Memories In Motion program which was designed to ensure that people living with disabilities can join their family and friends at important life events or last minute medical appointments when public transportation options are unable to assist. This programs is working to breakdown barriers to transportation that many face everyday and build a more accessible and inclusive community in Kamloops.
Disability Parking Permits
We issue Disability Parking Permits for Kamloops and surrounding areas.
Cedar Creek Camp
Our Cedar Creek Camp is located on White Lake, near Shuswap Lake in the North Okanagan. It is a beautiful 10.2 acre property with a natural, rustic and private setting. The camp is wheelchair accessible and available for rent from the May long weekend to the middle of September for day trips and overnight camping.
