Community Justice & Legal Services
The Elizabeth Fry Legal Clinic (ELC) provides free legal advice and representation to low-income residents in Kamloops, Kelowna and surrounding areas.
Library & Pretrial Program
The Society manages a library at the Kamloops Regional Correctional Centre, providing access to fiction and non-fiction reading material for prisoners, including a legal resource collection and providing assistance with completing legal aid applications.
Elizabeth Court
A family oriented affordable housing complex providing 46 units with a mix of 1, 2, and 3 bedrooms; including 8 wheelchair accessible 1 bedroom suites. Located in downtown Kamloops. Subsidized units available.
Hill Top Apartments
Located on the North Shore, a family oriented affordable housing complex. Provides 35 units with a mix of 1, 2, and 3 bedrooms; including 2 wheelchair accessible 1 bedroom suites.
Cornerhouse
Cornerhouse provides 15 single units.
Rent Bank
The Rent Bank program is a homelessness prevention tool that helps to provide housing stability for low- to moderate-income renters who are unable to pay rent or utilities due to an emergency that compromise their ability to pay. The Rent bank provides interest-free loans to individuals and families, as well as information and supports to other agencies that may be able to help these individuals in order to stabilize their housing situation and future.
Women’s Housing Support
The women’s housing support program aims to help women find or maintain safe, suitable housing. The program:
- Assists women to maintain or become stable in their housing situation.
- Provides support for the development of life and self-advocacy skills.
- Connects women with community resources and one-on-one support specific to each individual.
- Hosts groups information sessions focused on issues related to housing tenancy, life skills, health or finances.
Family Stepping Stones
Family Stepping Stones provides the only women’s second stage housing in Kamloops. Five women and their children live in long term supportive housing to stabilize their lives. With individualized programming for each woman and her children, Family Stepping Stones provides a safe and supportive environment to keep families together until they are ready to transition to independent living.
Lizzy’s Closet
Lizzy’s Closet is a free, used, quality clothing program for women, ran by women. The main focus is to help women who are in need of clothing for court appearances, job interviews, attending school, in crisis, and low-income situations.
Youth: Sky Program
The Sky Program is a community based program that provides an alternative to custody for youth involved in the criminal justice system. Youth are housed in local care-homes and attend a day program Monday through Friday where they learn, receive one-on-one support and participate in recreational activities.
Parent Support Group
You are not alone. We are parents supporting parents of Alcoholic & Addicted Children.
This group meets weekly in a safe environment facilitated by an experienced counselor in the addictions field. Our goal is to support each other, gain insight and develop strategies for coping with these overwhelming feelings.
Addiction is a family disease where all members are held hostage to the chaos and trauma.
