Who We Are
The Bradley Centre is a vibrant community hub located in the heart of Parksville, BC, dedicated to enhancing the lives of residents, especially seniors, through diverse recreational, educational, and social programs. Our mission is to foster a sense of belonging and well-being by providing a welcoming space for community engagement, skill-building, and intergenerational connection. With a commitment to inclusivity and innovation, we strive to create opportunities that empower individuals, support families, and strengthen our community fabric. Passionate about promoting health, creativity, and lifelong learning, the Bradley Centre is a cornerstone for local enrichment and social resilience.
The Bradley Centre's roots trace back to 1973, when a group of senior residents of Coombs, formed the Coombs Hobby Pensioners Association. Through a generous land donation from Lydia Bradley and the efforts of dedicated members, the association acquired land and eventually opened the Bradley Centre in April 1991. Today, as the Mid-Island Pensioners and Hobbyist Association, the Centre thrives, offering a wide range of activities and events, supported by rentals for various community functions.
What We Do
At the Bradley Centre, we offer a wide range of programs and activities designed to meet the needs and interests of our community, particularly seniors. Our food programming is a key component, featuring the weekly Connections Cafe, the OAT Project (soup program), and various food literacy workshops and information sessions that promote healthy eating and cooking skills.
In addition to our food-related initiatives, we provide numerous opportunities for creative and recreational engagement. Our sewing group, art groups, and fibre groups offer spaces for individuals to develop new skills, express creativity, and connect with others who share similar interests.
We believe wholeheartedly in true collaboration and actively work together with organizations like PGOSA to enhance our offerings. Through this partnership, we provide games and line dancing specifically tailored for the 55+ community, fostering a vibrant and active lifestyle.
Furthermore, we host markets and events to fundraise, ensuring that our programs remain accessible to everyone in the community. These events not only support our mission but also bring the community together, creating a strong sense of unity and purpose.
Our diverse programs and activities reflect our dedication to creating a supportive, inclusive, and dynamic environment where all community members can thrive.
