Who We Are
As part of the St. Paul’s Hospital Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, we conduct clinical research through interventional and observational studies. Our research team is multidisciplinary, including physicians, medical students, research managers, and research assistants.
What We Do
Anesthesia research at St. Paul’s Hospital is developing a Patient Advisory Council (PAC) to provide consistent input and feedback to the research team. Patient partners on this council will offer consultations and guidance to the research team, help shape research projects, and be involved in the publication of research papers! Patient-oriented research engages patients, caregivers, and families as partners to ensure studies focus on patient-identified priorities for better patient outcomes.
Patients Partners (Including patients, caregivers, and family members with lived or living experience) will:
- be invited to attend research rounds to provide input and feedback on prospective and ongoing research studies, using their experiences as patients.
- Attend these meetings virtually with a flexible frequency, depending on their availability.
- Have the opportunity to be included as a co-author of a report of the design process of the PAC for publication.
