Who We Are
The Health and Home Care Society of BC (Care BC) is an independent and BC-based not-for-profit organization. Since 1898, we have taken care of British Columbians through healthcare initiatives tailored to the communities we serve. We continue this tradition of caring today with preventive and supportive health services that keep people healthy and in the comfort of their own homes and communities.
MISSION
To provide health promotion and supportive care services to communities in British Columbia.
VISION
A future where seniors live independently in their own homes.
What We Do
Since 1967, our Meals on Wheels program has provided hot, nutritious meals and warm, friendly visits to people throughout Vancouver, Richmond and the North Shore. The program, which began with a handful of meals delivered in Kitsilano, now delivers more than 400 meals every weekday.
We also run the Vancouver Family Respite Centre (FRC) a purpose-built, community-based respite centre in Canada. We offer a homelike environment where seniors with cognitive decline or physical frailties receive temporary care, benefiting from the care of our dedicated nursing staff, advanced recreational and therapeutic programs and the opportunity to socialize with other guests, staff and volunteers.
Our Community Integration Project (CIP) assists people with newly acquired disabilities adapt to their housing and daily living needs while maintaining their quality of life within their home and community. Recognizing these individuals' challenges, the CIP program facilitates temporary access to short-term, wheelchair-adapted housing.
