Who We Are
Interior Association are one of five Regional Associations of Family Councils, who work with other Regional Associations under the umbrella of Independent Long-Term Care Councils of BC. The primary members of Interior Association of Family Councils are representatives of Family Councils from LTC facilities in the Interior Health Authority.
Representatives from our Family Council members participate at the local level, with a goal of improving the overall quality of life and quality of care for residents living in long-term care. These family council members also participate in a regional family councils network, to discuss common issues and solutions with health authority representatives.
Also in our membership are individuals who no longer have loved-ones in long-term care, who wish to share their experience being part of a Family Council, and/or others with the desire to advocate for residents in LTC, and who participate in advancing the mission of the Association.
At the local Council level, towards improving quality of life for residents in long-term care, all of our members are actively working to promote local volunteerism.
What We Do
The mission of Interior Association of Family Councils is to •increase awareness of the role of Family Councils in Long-term care homes (LTC); and
• provide a forum that allows Family Councils to network with one another, to share ideas and information, and collectively advocate to improve quality of life and quality of care for Residents in LTC.
